Albert's History
Albert's Sports and Workwear was opened in 1952 by Albert
Cauchon. The store started off as Albert's New and Second Hand Store.
It later became Factory Surplus and Albert's New and Second Hand
Store, changing it's name in the mid 70's to Albert's Army Surplus,
and finally to Albert's Sports and Workwear. Albert had moved his store
to New Liskeard in 1958, but returned to Timmins in 1959. Albert was
not just the owner of this one store, he also produced his own line
of potato chips and blood sausage which he sold in Timmins. In 1972
Albert sold his store to his son Roger Cauchon following a stroke
which left him partially paralyzed. Albert passed away in 1978, leaving his
store in good hands. Roger has ran his business since 1972 and has
since moved to a new location on Riverside Drive, much larger then
the store's previous location on Cedar Street. With over 50 years
under it's belt, Albert's Sports and Workwear has proven itself in
Timmins.
